People who claim they’re vegan and eat honey

lol except giving up honey is ridiculous. do you stop driving your car because bugs hit your windshield which results in you killing them? no, you don’t. your local beekeeper is a perfectly okay place to get honey from! trust me, they more than likely take great care of their bees. 

bees are insects, just like all the other insects you walk on and kill while you walk outside. 

i eat fish and i can call myself a vegetarian without someone going apeshit on me, i think it should be okay if someone wants to define their diet as vegan even though they eat honey. 

First off, read the definition that Donald Watson used when he coined the term “veganism”.

“Veganism is a way of living which excludes all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, the animal kingdom, and includes a reverence for life. It applies to the practice of living on the products of the plant kingdom to the exclusion of flesh, fish, fowl, eggs, honey, animal milk and its derivatives, and encourages the use of alternatives for all commodities derived wholly or in part from animals.”

Bees are animals, there is no doubt. There is a HUGE different between exploiting/enslaving bees and accidentally stepping on a bug.

By the way, you’re not a vegetarian, you’re a pescetarian. Also known as an omnivore.
